   Community Engagement Awards Ceremony
Community Engagement Awards Ceremony was held by UMCares – The Community and Sustainability Centre, at Alumni University of Malaya Clubhouse. The objective of this event are to give an appreciation to University of Malaya’s Researchers that had been work very hard during 2015 doing community works by using the funding from Research University Money that had been allocate RM 1,000,000.00 to UMCares and also funding from Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). The funding from internal are called Community Engagement Grants and funding from MoHE are called knowledge Transfer Program (KTP). Besides giving awards, UMCares also had launch Kelab Sahabat UM Grants, UM Tropical Camp and also UMCares corporate video.
The ceremony began at 10.30 with arrival guests celebrated consisting of the Grant Community Engagement (CE), Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP), representative from University of Malaya’s adopted schools, representatives from industry and also representatives of researchers from the University of Malaya. At 11.00 am, the arrival of dignitaries, Dr Ab Wahab bin Che Mad, the Secretary (Special Projects) of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dato 'Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin. Arrival of dignitaries greeted with drums beating from one of the schools adopted UM, SMK Damansara Utama. The program began with a prayer from Mr. Muhammad Khairul Anuar Senin and follow with a speech from the director UMCares, Prof. Dr. Norzulaani Khalid. There are speeches from Mr Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya and subsequently the presentation of prizes to the winners. Award for Most Active project is Dr Azean Jomhari for Community Engagement Grant entitled Quranis Workshop Series for Parents of Children with Autism for Low Income. For this category of beneficiaries evaluated in terms of active involvement in the participation in fairs organized by the government and statutory bodies, other than to commit to writing articles and also other programs organized by UMCares. Grant Community Engagement category for the best, there are three winners of the celebrated Dr. Daliana Binti Nik Nik Farid for Sexual Health Program for Adolescents and Reproductive System, Dr. Shuaib Norliyana Program Workshop for Web Development & Photo Editing for Home Orphanage and Dr. Nurshuhada Zainon for Malaysia Ends Dengue Program. For the last award is the award for the best ID card holder Grant was won by Dr. Bushroa Abdul Razak for KTP Grant entitled: An Energy Star Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Machine.
After a tribute to all award recipients, Prof. Dato 'Mohd Amin Jalaludin inaugurated Tropical UM Camp, Grant Friends of the club and also launched a corporate video UMCares by signing a plaque that has been provided by the UMCares as the symbolic opening of the UM Tropical Camp. When finished signing the plaque, showing larger Corporate Video UMCares kepda attendees at this event. UMCares with a corporate video can be somewhat amusing instinct for teachers or staff and students at the University to continue to be active in giving back to our communities.
The ceremony at the end with a gala lunch accompanied with performances ranging caklempong than siblings of Damansara Utama Secondary School. After the session is complete dinner, attendees are invited to a photo session and the council expires at 2pm. The ceremony went smoothly and no undesired problems occur and this event will be held again to give an award to the 2016 Community Engagement Grant later.
